Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common concerns about counselling and coaching

What if I’m not good at talking about emotions?

That’s common. You don’t need the right language to begin. We work a pace you're comfortable with.

How many sessions will I need?

Some clients attend short-term (6–10 sessions). Others prefer longer-term work. This is discussed collaboratively and reviewed regularly.

Is everything confidential?

Yes. Sessions are confidential in accordance with Australian legal and ethical standards, except where there is risk of serious harm to yourself or others.

Do I need to be in crisis to start counselling?

No. Many clients begin when they notice something feels “off” - tension, irritability, disconnection, lack of direction. Counselling can prevent issues from escalating.

Is online counselling effective?

Yes. Research shows online counselling can be as effective as in-person for many concerns. It also offers convenience and privacy.

What happens in the first session?

The first session focuses on understanding:

What’s bringing you in

  • Your current challenges

  • Relevant background

  • Goals for counselling

It's structured but conversational.

What if I cancel our session?

Cancellations under 48 hours notice will be charged a $50 fee. Cancellations on the day of the appointment will incur a $100 fee.

What if I'm unsure?

That’s what the consultation call is for. There is no obligation to continue.
