My Approach

A practical and thoughtful approach to personal growth

People often come to counselling when something in their life has changed.

A relationship may have ended.
Work may no longer feel right.
The future may feel uncertain.

At these times it can be difficult to think clearly. Conversations with friends and family can help, but they are often shaped by expectations, history or advice that does not quite fit your situation.

Counselling provides a different kind of space — one where you can slow down, speak openly and explore what is happening in your life without judgement.

What Session are like

Sessions are conversational, reflective and focused on understanding you and your current situation.

Together we explore questions such as:

• What has changed in your life?
• What pressures or patterns may be contributing to the situation?
• What options are available to you now?
• What direction feels most aligned with your values?

Many people find that simply having the space to talk and think clearly about their lives brings immediate relief and perspective.

Over time, counselling can help you develop greater clarity, emotional balance and confidence in the decisions you make.

Modalities I Draw From

My work is integrative, meaning I draw from evidence-based approaches including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

  • Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)

  • The GROW model of change

  • The Transtheoretical Model of Change

These methods help us understand how thoughts, emotions and behaviour interact, while also focusing on practical ways to move forward.

Rather than applying a rigid method, I adapt these approaches to suit each person’s situation and goals.

A collaborative process

Counselling is not something that is “done to” you.

It is a collaborative process.

My role is to provide structure, perspective and thoughtful challenge when needed. Your role is to bring your experiences, concerns and reflections into the conversation.

Together we work toward greater clarity about what matters to you — and how to move toward a life that feels more stable, meaningful and aligned with your values.

A calm space to think clearly

Many people live busy lives and rarely have the opportunity to step back and reflect on what is happening.

Counselling provides that opportunity.

Whether you are navigating a relationship change, feeling stuck or uncertain about the future, counselling can help you make sense of your experience and consider what comes next.

If You’re Still Unsure

It’s normal to feel uncertain before starting counselling.

A short consultation gives you the chance to:

  • Ask questions

  • Understand how sessions work

  • See whether the fit feels right

There is no pressure, just a conversation.
